HONG KONG — Acne Studios opened its first boutique in Hong Kong on Friday.


Located on Ice House Street in the city’s Central district, the 613-square-foot shop features a sampling of the Swedish fashion label’s collection, including men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, denim, shoes and accessories.


Acne chairman Mikael Schiller said he was excited to have a stand-alone store in Hong Kong, which — along with New York — has always inspired him.


“Hong Kong is a market that the world is looking at,” he said, adding that customers there are “sophisticated and demanding.” They are less interested in logos and pau more attention to small details, cut and fabric.


The Hong Kong store opening is part of a partnership with I.T., which was instrumental in finding the Acne location and arranging the store opening, Schiller said. Acne has been selling through I.T. stores for about a decade.


The new shop uses the same perforated aluminum structures featured in Acne’s other boutiques in downtown Los Angeles, Paris and Melbourne.


This is Acne’s sixth shop in Asia. The Swedish fashion label has two in Japan, its largest market, as well as stores in Shanghai and Seoul. Acne also has three boutiques in Australia.


Schiller was in Hong Kong to celebrate the new store opening before embarking on a whirlwind 10-day Asia tour.


He said Acne is also looking to expand in Nagoya, Beijing, Bangkok and Singapore and plans to open another store in Seoul next year. Outside of Asia, Acne is eyeing openings in New York, Berlin and Los Angeles.
