Aéropostale Inc. is expanding its home-goods offerings of decorative pillows, wall decor and lighting with a licensing deal with textiles company Himatsingka America for bedding and bath linens.
The licensing deal has Himatsingka designing, making and distributing “home textiles such as bedding and bath linens using the Aéropostale label for department stores, big-box retailers and wholesale channels across North America.”
Although specific retailers were not identified, the company said the home collection will be launched for the 2016 back-to-school shopping season.
Julian R. Geiger, chief executive officer of Aéropostale, described the agreement as a way to capitalize “on the power of the Aéropostale brand” while extending “our reach through new bedding and bath products.”
David Greenstein, ceo of Himatsingka America, said the retailer is a “highly recognizable brand” and that the company intends to “engage Aéropostale’s vast customer base” with the collection.
In North America, Himatsingka America’s DWI Holdings unit has licensed home goods for Calvin Klein Home, which is the second-largest luxury bedding brand at department stores, according to the company.
