After six years endorsing Lacoste, tennis star Andy Roddick will introduce his own signature collection of performance apparel this fall with the French brand. The line contains seven styles, including polos, jackets, tennis shorts, track pants and track jackets. It hits stores and on July 1.

Each style will be emblazoned with a logo consisting of Roddick’s scripted signature leading into the shadowed silhouette of Roddick midserve. The logo will be placed near the lower right hem of polos and jackets.

“On the tour we practically live out of a suitcase. When packing, function will always win over style, which is why I am so impressed with this collection,” said Roddick, who will wear the new line exclusively on court. “I never would have believed 10 years ago that I would have a signature collection with Lacoste.”

The line will be sold globally, both in Lacoste boutiques and in the wholesale channel. In the U.S., it will be available at Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Prices range from $85 for the tennis shorts to $185 for track jackets, with polos at $88 and track pants at $115. Some of the items are fashioned from quick-dry technical fabrics for on-court play.

“Andy has been a longtime ambassador of the Lacoste brand,” said Steve Birkhold, chief executive officer of Devanlay U.S., the Lacoste apparel and accessories licensee. “We worked with him closely to design a collection that reflects Andy’s distinctive look and game. ”

Roddick withdrew from the French Open, which is now in semifinals action, before the tournament started in late May due to a shoulder injury. The 28-year-old, once ranked number one in the world, is currently ranked 11th on the men’s tour.

“Is it tacky to wear your own collection all the time?” Roddick asked of his new Lacoste line.
