New York City Police have arrested one suspect in conjunction with last week’s midday jewelry heist in the Diamond District.
Rondu Frisby, 37, of Manhattan was taken into police custody Monday and charged with robbery, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marihuana, a NYPD spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Investigators are still looking for the other man who was believed to have been involved in the Nov. 14 West 47th Street robbery at Watch Standard Jewelry. An estimated $500,000 worth of merchandise was taken from the scene and one of give company employees who were present was pistol-whipped by one of the assailants.
Police shut down the Diamond District for a few hours while the initial search continued. This week the hectic block between Fifth and Sixth Avenue looks unchanged save for the Wanted for Robbery police flyers taped to street signs. The investigation continues, according to the NYPD spokeswoman.
