“The Chanel boutique is the first of many exciting renovations and launches in the upcoming months that will further enhance the beauty of the store and excite our customers,” said Joshua Schulman, president of Bergdorf’s, which has 40 projects in the works for new designers, shops and merchandise concepts at Bergdorf’s Fifth Avenue women’s and men’s stores.

Making their debut in the Chanel shop are accessories from the 2012-13 Métiers d’Art collection Paris-Edimbourg, jewelry watches from the Mademoiselle Privé collection, and what Chanel fashion division president Barbara Cirkva characterized as Chanel’s “latest, most coveted accessories” to complement Chanel’s ready-to-wear salon on the second floor. The shop design, inspired by Mademoiselle Chanel’s Paris apartment and Peter Marino’s boutique concept, has a palette of black, white, beige and gold, and custom details including a set of three handwoven carpets, hand-painted plaster wall finishes applied by local artisans and hand-crafted textured bronze vases. One area with gold ceilings and walls wrapped in handwoven metal showcases exotics such as python, alligator and galuchat handbags.
