ALOHA, ALA MOANA: Bloomingdale’s 165,000-square-foot store at the Ala Moana Center in Hawaii is expected to open its doors Nov. 12.
The debut at Ala Moana, Bloomingdale’s first store in Hawaii, represents a significant piece of the 650,000-square-foot expansion at the Honolulu shopping center. Nordstrom’s moving into the Ewa Wing of the center, which was previously anchored by Sears.
Mall owner General Growth Properties Inc. paid Sears Holdings Corp. $270 million for 11 of the chain’s properties, with the Ala Moana site seen as the crown jewel of the transaction, reportedly accounting for the bulk of the purchase price.
The new Bloomingdale’s will span three floors, carrying luxury brands and some lines exclusive to the location. The store will offer customers smart fitting rooms and charging stations as well as a Forty Carrots restaurant.
