CHICAGO — The Chicago Apparel Center has reorganized management responsibilities.

Dorothy Fuller, who was director of the apparel center, has been named vice president of retail development and special projects and will focus on developing special services for stores.

“I created the retail promotion program, which is bringing millions of dollars into the building, but I can’t do everything,” Fuller said, adding that she was pleased with the changes. Her previous responsibilities for marketing, leasing and operations will be shared by other executives.

Building operations will be handled by Joseph Balasa, vice president and property manager of the apparel center.

Susan McCullough has been promoted to vice president of marketing and will be responsible for strategic planning and market development. McCullough was managing director of marketing.

Richard McConnell, vice president of leasing, will be responsible for showroom and trade show leasing.

Fuller, McCullough and McConnell all report to Chris Kennedy, executive vice president of Merchandise Mart Properties Inc., which manages the apparel center and other buildings.

In another development, Kennedy’s responsibilities have been expanded. He now heads the newly created Mart/Trade Show Division, responsible for marketing and leasing for apparel, contract furnishings, commercial building products, gifts and decorative accessories.

Balasa continues to report to Thomas Kennedy, executive vice president of MMPI, who additionally has been named its chief operating officer, a new post. Kennedy — no relation to Chris Kennedy — has also been given responsibility for MMPI’s new Real Estate Management Division, which oversees marketing and leasing for office and retail components and for operations in all MMPI-managed buildings.
