Chinese luxury brand Shang Xia is continuing its expansion via a partnership with Lane Crawford. The Hermès-backed luxury lifestyle brand is introducing its collections into six Lane Crawford stores in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, marking its first entry into the city.
In January, Shang Xia revealed plans to expand into e-commerce with a store on Alibaba’s Tmall that is slated to launch in March. The brand’s concept centers on incorporating Chinese craftsmanship with materials native to the country, such as bamboo and silk, into modern designs that encapsulate an earthy, yet elegant, Asian aesthetic.
Since Shang Xia’s inception in 2008, the brand has maintained a conservative retail presence with only three locations in Beijing and Shanghai, where it has its flagship Shanghai Shang Xia Maison. The company opened a boutique in Paris in 2012.
Lane Crawford will carry Shang Xia’s apparel, accessories, furniture and home furnishings collections. To celebrate the Lane Crawford launch, Shang Xia designed a limited-edition “Rooster Fun” silk scarf to mark the year of the rooster, the Chinese animal zodiac sign for 2017.
