Cords & Co., a Swedish premium corduroy brand for men and women, has opened its first New York store.
The 484-square-foot unit at 160 Spring Street in SoHo is the sixth store to open around the world, joining London, Paris, Venice, Los Angeles and two in its hometown of Stockholm.
“We are very excited to take our disruptive vision for corduroy to New York City,” said Mikael Soderlindh, cofounder. “As a fashion capital and unrivaled hub for street culture, pop culture and the arts, it is a natural new home for the brand in so many ways. We can’t wait to introduce ourselves to the New York City customer as the corduroy alternative to denim.”
The store offers a variety of corduroy options in fits that retail for around $150 to $200 along with shirts, jackets, dresses and accessories.
The store was designed in collaboration with Swedish architects In Praise of Shadows and includes materials that reference corduroy as a design element. The store will include a dedicated space for in-store artist collaborations and includes works from New York-based artist Curtis Kulig, who is famous for his Love Me message on paintings.
The shop will have its grand-opening on March 17.
