Decadestwo, a Los Angeles-based retailer specializing in pre-owned designer clothes and accessories from recent seasons, will open its first New York pop-up shop May 14 to 17.

The specialty store is teaming up with Kiki de Montparnasse, which will house the temporary location in the event space above its SoHo boutique at 79 Greene Street.
Selma Blair, Rachel Zoe and Monet Mazur are among the celebrities who have donated pieces to be sold. A portion of the sales will benefit the Detroit-based Ruth Ellis House, a social service agency that helps homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender teens and young adults.
There will be a velvet-rope launch party on May 14, and clients and invited guests can appointment-only shop on May 15 and 16. Co-owner Christos Garkinos said 2,000 one-of-a-kind items from designer labels such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Chloé, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Prada and Gucci already have been squirreled away for the pop-up shop. The public will be able to shop on the final day of the store’s stay, May 17. Each item will be available for as much as 80 percent off.
“People don’t want to be seen in [designer] stores at the moment,” Garkinos said. “This gives them a little taste of luxury with a little better price. Obviously, retail is having a tough time right now, but the one area that is not hurting is consignment.”
Garkinos, who started Decadestwo 10 years ago with Cameron Silver as an offshoot to their Decades 20th-century vintage business, said they have been eager to figure a way to branch out to Manhattan. But the decision to partner with Kiki de Montparnasse was “kismet,” he said. Garkinos said he was talking about how the company needed a New York presence one morning last month in Decadestwo’s Los Angeles store. By chance, Kiki de Montparnasse president Kama Carnes was shopping in the store and offered the SoHo space.
The two agreed their brands were a good match. Garkinos was pleased with the location and its ambience and was already familiar with it. In talking, the pair also discovered they had been in Las Vegas at the same time 13 years ago, opening stores side-by-side for former employers.
