Ellen Davis, an 18-year veteran of the National Retail Federation including the last eight years as president of the NRF Foundation, has left the trade organization to become executive vice president of the Consumer Brands Association, formerly the Grocery Manufacturers Association.
The NRF has begun the process of seeking Davis’ successor.
Davis was instrumental in elevating the NRF Foundation’s Rise Up campaign spotlighting careers offered in the retail industry and providing a retail credentialing program. The NRF Foundation distributes scholarships.
The last NRF Foundation fund-raising gala, held Jan. 12 at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan in conjunction with NRF’s “Big Show” convention and trade expo at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, drew 850 guests and raised $4 million. “There are too many young people who don’t know what’s available to them,” Davis told the crowd. “We all believe that retail is a great place to start and a great place to grow.”
