It turns out consumers are even being economical when it comes to the colors they wear, sticking with similar shades from one season to the next so as not to have to overhaul their wardrobes, said Roseanna Roberts, the U.S. Color Association’s director of color trends. They will play with color, though, when it comes to accessories, she said. This fall’s palette for clothing is:
• Kale khaki green

• Clay taupe brown
• Red cabbage purple
• Ink navy/indigo
“We are also seeing an interest in simplified living. As a society, we’re being forced to look inward and reevaluate our values. As a result, hobbies and pastimes are more wholesome in nature. This translates to an appreciation for colors achieved through a more natural process such as vegetable dyes (even if they are not actually dyed this way),” Roberts said. The accessories’ forecast calls for:
• Bright blue-green
• Carrot orange
• Bright and brick red
• Golden yellow, which is “full of positive associations; a connection to harvest, sun and nature,” Roberts said.
