Claire Distenfeld

The Manhattan boutique's owner Claire Distenfeld says shoes, handbags and jewelry will be the first merchandise to roll out.

Claire Distenfeld’s Manhattan boutique Fivestory is getting into e-commerce — starting with accessories. This was a strategic decision made by the owner of the three-year-old shop, who said shoes, handbags and especially jewelry have become Fivestory’s strength. “I wanted the act of going to our Web site to feel like sitting in your favorite hotel lobby,” Distenfeld said, adding that she will select a “top five” for each category, which will be updated regularly.

“The ambience, the colors, the imagery should all be aligned; it should be relaxing, comfortable and yet decadent and luxurious.” Lace-up sandals, minaudières and baubles from designers such as Aquazurra, Anndra Neen, Jennie Kwon, Ilana Ariel, Khai Khai, Noor Fares, Paula Mendoza and Monica Sordo are available on the site.
