PARIS — Continuing its march beyond French borders, Galeries Lafayette said it would open a department store in Istanbul in the first half of 2015.

The retailer said it signed a partnership with Turkish firm DEMSA Group to open a Galeries Lafayette in the forthcoming Boulevardi Mall, a development that is to encompass luxury residences, a five-star hotel, a cinema and fashion boutiques.

Galeries Lafayette operates 59 locations in France, and three abroad: in Casablanca, Berlin and Dubai.

The chain is in the throes of a significant international push that includes plans to open between five and seven new overseas locations before 2015, including Jakarta, Indonesia; Beijing; and Doha, Qatar. It is also looking for locations in Saudi Arabia and Europe.

Founded in 2000, DEMSA group, a division of Sebanci Holdings, operates 110 stores across Turkey under banners including Harvey Nichols, Just Cavalli, Ice Iceberg, M Missoni, Gerard Darel, Guess, Fornarina, Laura Ashley and Mothercare.
