Glen Giovanucci has joined Fanatics, a licensed sports retailer, as vice president of retail sales for its Fanatics Branded division. Fanatics Branded is the company’s in-house merchandise arm and produces T-shirts, hats, jerseys and other apparel items as well as items specifically for championships and other big sports moments.
Giovanucci will report to Fanatics Branded president Raphael Peck and work with retailers in all channels. He will be based at Fanatics’ new Silicon Valley headquarters in San Mateo, Calif.
Giovanucci has experience in the licensed sports industry and has held senior-level roles at Puma, Reebok International and most recently at the Adidas Group, where he was the senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Sports Licensing division following its acquisition of Reebok. He had also been senior vice president of sales for Iron Mountain, an information management solutions and storage company.
“There is no doubt that Fanatics has become a key player in the world of sports licensed apparel and I am looking forward to joining this forward-thinking company to help expand the Fanatics Branded division,” Giovanucci said. “There are big things in store for both Fanatics and Fanatics Branded and I can’t wait to produce and distribute unique and innovative merchandise for sports fans around the world.”
Giovanucci coached college hockey at Northeastern University, West Point and Plattsburgh State and was also an NHL scout for 12 years.
