TAPPING INTO A LEGEND: With their holiday windows, retailers all around town try to outdo each other. This year, Bloomingdale’s, known for tie-ins with top entertainers from the film, theater and music industries, has scored a coup. Superstar singer, songwriter, philanthropist, “The Voice” judge and EGOT winner John Legend will get into the Christmas spirit with a performance at the Bloomingdale’s event Friday evening.
Legend is scheduled to perform material from the expanded version of his first Christmas album, “A Legendary Christmas,” which features a duet of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with Kelly Clarkson, another judge on “The Voice.” Legend isn’t a stranger to retail appearances. He performed at the opening of the Westfield World Trade Center, in the center of the soaring Santiago Calatrava-designed Oculus in lower Manhattan in 2016. Also performing at Bloomingdale’s on Friday will be members of The National Children’s Chorus.
Bloomingdale’s windows, keeping culturally relevant, this year draw inspiration from the store’s winter campaign, “An Out of This World Holiday,” which pays homage to the 50th anniversary of man’s landing on the moon, and takes you on “a journey through the cosmos with interactive features, show-stopping robotics and stunning visuals.”
