CHRISTMAS BY THE BOOK: La Rinascente signed six young illustrators to decorate its Christmas windows, which were unveiled on Thursday.

Under the supervision of La Rinascente creative director Tiziana Cardini and freelance visual designer Sergio Colantuoni, the six artists created oversized pop-up books, which continually open and close. For example, Ivo Bisignano, who has worked as an illustrator for fashion companies such as Prada and Fratelli Rossetti, created a pop-up book with cartoonish characters poking out from gift boxes, while Amedeo Piccione designed a music box in the shape of a chorus singing Christmas songs, embellished with jewels and pearls.
Strengthening its ties to the art business, La Rinascente also teamed up with Italian bank Intesa San Paolo to finance the exhibition of Raphael’s painting “Madonna Esterhazy,” shown at Palazzo Marino, Milan’s city hall, until Jan. 11.
