Linda Heasley, former head of Ascena Retail Group’s plus-size segment, will become chief executive officer of The Honey Baked Ham Co. LLC on Feb. 6.

Heasley succeeds Honey Baked Ham chairman and interim ceo Paul Roth. “We have been pursuing Linda for months,” said Roth. “She is a well-respected and visionary ceo with a proven track record of developing strong teams and delivering results.”

Honey Baked Ham, founded by Harry Hoenselaar in 1957, has nearly 400 locations nationwide serving signature spiral-sliced, sweet-crunchy-glazed honey-baked ham, turkey breasts and other premium meats, as well as deli side items, heat-and-serve dishes, baked goods and desserts.

Heasley’s departure from Ascena last week seemed abrupt considering she was making progress advancing the image and merchandise quality of Ascena’s plus size retail nameplates Lane Bryant, Catherines and Cacique. It’s also a stretch to go from fashion to food.

Heasley called Honey Baked Ham “one of the most venerable retail food brands in America.” She said she looks forward to supporting the company’s “incredible growth and finding new ways to enhance the customer experience.”

Prior to Ascena, Heasley was chairman, president and ceo of The Limited Inc., which is in the process of shutting all of its doors. Earlier, she held executive positions at Timberland and CVS Caremark.
