For those seeking to make their nuptials as special as possible, “Wedding Weekend on Madison Avenue” will be worth attending to ease the planning and cut the stress associated with that big day.
The event, set for Oct. 12 and 13, is being staged by The Bridal Council and the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District. Estée Lauder will be the sponsor and highlight its Beautiful Belle fragrance inspired by today’s modern bride. Among the 30-plus retailers and designers participating in “Wedding Weekend” are Amsale, Alice + Olivia, Baccarat, Carolina Herrera, Christofle, David Yurman, De Beers, Diptyque, Edie Parker, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Lalique, Monica Vinader, Oscar de la Renta, Rebecca Taylor and Vera Wang.
Along the 29 blocks between 57th and 86th Streets on Madison Avenue that comprise the Business Improvement District, bridal designers and bridal experts in beauty, travel, photography, event planning, floral design, fashion, jewelry and other areas will be available to help those plan their special day.
Also, Fujifilm is sponsoring a treasure hunt where couples will photograph clues using Fujifilm’s Instax cameras and their photos will get judged by professional photographers. The grand prize is from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
Wedding Weekend is among the series of events during the year organized by the Business Improvement District to spur business along the avenue, such as Watch Week and the Gallery Walk. For Chinese New Year, lion dancers perform up and down the avenue.
