The executives are being honored as industry leaders impacting retail and will be recognized at the NRF Foundation Dinner on Jan. 12 during NRF’s annual convention and trade show called NRF 202 Vision: Retail’s Big Show in New York.

Also at the dinner, Kohl’s ceo Michelle Gass will be recognized with “The Visionary Award.“

“Our industry has the power to spark impressive change and build dynamic careers, and the honorees on the list embody the passion and diversity in retail today,” said NRF Foundation president Ellen Davis.

For 2020, there are noticeably fewer individuals being recognized at the dinner. “Feedback from attendees at the honors is that we had so many people we were recognizing at one event that we weren’t able to tell each of their stories in a meaningful way,” said Davis. “Earlier this year our board decided to reduce the number of honorees on the list each year to five to 10, allowing us to showcase each of them in a more compelling way and engage them more deeply in our work, helping people become trained and find jobs in retail. While we did cut back the number of honorees, we were very intentional about ensuring that we still had a diverse representation of people and brands impacting the industry today.”

The dinner is expected to raise more than $3.5 million for initiatives including educational programs, student scholarships and the NRF’s Rise Up campaign supporting the retail industry. The Rise Up “Partner of the Year” will also be announced at the dinner. Since 2015, the event has raised more than $10 million to support the foundation’s efforts.
