LONDON — Marks & Spencer has appointed makeup artist Mary Greenwell as its beauty ambassador, a role effective as of October, the British retailer said Wednesday.
Greenwell’s appointment marks the expansion of M&S’ cosmetics category, which will see the retailer add the brands Bourjois, Barry M, Pixi, Studio 10 and T. LeClerc both online and in stores from the end of September. Greenwell has worked with M&S to create six different makeup looks using the products from newly added brands, with Greenwell demonstrating the looks in videos that will air on the M&S Web site.
M&S said Greenwell and the retailer had decided on the looks — among them a classic red lip, perfect brow and smoky eye — by looking at what the most-searched makeup looks are on Google.
Greenwell is known for working with a roster of celebrities — among them Cate Blanchett, Uma Thurman and the late Diana, Princess of Wales — along with scores of designers and editorial titles. Greenwell launched her own line of fragrances in 2010.
