Moda Operandi, the luxury fashion platform, has named Kristina Salen chief financial officer.
Salen, who will be based in New York and starts March 1, will oversee Moda Operandi’s global financial operations and report to Ganesh Srivats, chief executive officer.
She succeeds Hoddi Hafsteinsson, who’s been at Moda since 2013.
Most recently, Salen was cfo and chief operating officer of UnitedMasters, a company that leverages technology to help independent musicians distribute their music. Earlier, she was cfo of Etsy, where she led and executed the company’s initial public offering, and helped scale the business from $895 million in gross sales to $3 billion. She has previously held posts with Fidelity, Oppenheimer Capital, Merrill Lynch and Lazard Freres.
“As an experienced cfo of growth-stage tech companies, Kristina brings incredible financial expertise and senior leadership experience at a critical time for Moda. Kristina will be a great new addition to our terrific leadership team, and I look forward to working closely with her to achieve Moda’s mission and ambitions,” Srivats said.
“Moda’s mission of leveraging technology to connect creators with customers is one that has resonated with me throughout my career,” Salen said. “I’m excited to join a company with a strong, established business model and at a pivotal moment in its history. I look forward to working with Ganesh as Moda builds its technology momentum and enters a new growth phase.”
Salen sits on the board of directors for both SiriusXM and Cornerstone OnDemand.
Cofounded in 2010 by Lauren Santo Domingo, Moda Operandi carries more than 1,000 brands and designers, and ships to 125 countries. It has raised nearly $300 million in funding from global investors.
