It’s tea time at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills.
The retailer is collaborating with Disney to celebrate the movie “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” which reunites the cast from “Alice in Wonderland” and returns Alice to Underland to save her friend the Mad Hatter, and Underland itself. The movie, starring Johnny Depp (who has his own tabloid troubles with his split from wife Amanda Heard) opened to bad reviews last weekend and performed poorly at the box office.
Still, Neiman’s in Beverly Hills has been hosting Mad Hatter tea services daily with pastries crafted by Stephanie Boswell, the pastry chef from The Peninsula Beverly Hills. The bites include the “Eat Me” cake that makes Alice grow larger. All of the place settings are MacKenzie-Childs and feature a mix of the “courtly check,” “butterfly garden,” “cutting garden” and “parchment check” collections.
Neiman’s Wilshire Avenue windows depict scenes from the movie, including costumes and props such as Alice’s Hatter-Made Outfit, Alice’s Maritime Look and the Mad Hatter’s Safari Look. The afternoon teas continue through Monday.
