Matthew Singer, who had held the post overseeing the fashion direction for the Dallas-based luxury department store as well as its New York-based Bergdorf Goodman division, resigned last week, WWD has learned.

A spokeswoman confirmed Singer’s departure and said Ken Downing, senior vice president and fashion director for the company, will oversee men’s until a successor is named.

Singer joined Neiman’s in January 2012. He had formerly been associate men’s fashion director for Bloomingdale’s and had also worked for Scoop and A.B.S.

Singer has created a consulting business, M. Singer Consulting LLC, and said, “While exploring opportunities, I have decided to consult on a few projects and spend some quality time with the family.”
