Brent Beabout, formerly with Wal-Mart, Amazon and the U.S. Navy, will join Nordstrom Inc. on Monday as executive vice president for the supply chain.
“As we continue to grow our online businesses and support evolving customer expectations with things like store reserve and BOPIS [buy-online-pick-up-in-store] we recognize the importance of continuing to build the capability of our supply chain operation to deliver on our customers’ expectations for increased transparency and control,” Erik Nordstrom, copresident, said in a message to employees.
Beabout has extensive supply chain experience, most recently serving as senior vice president, e-commerce supply chain for Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club e-commerce operations. As head of the supply chain logistics for Wal-Mart’s dot-com business, he was responsible for the strategy, development and execution of an integrated e-commerce supply chain, fulfillment and logistics network. This included transportation, customer advocacy, replenishment and shipping strategies, reverse logistics, multichannel and operational efficiencies, Nordstrom said.
Prior to Wal-Mart, Beabout spent five years at Office Depot as senior vice president of supply chain, involving servicing about 1,100 retail stores and delivering more than one million packages per week to customers.
Earlier, Beabout served as vice president of engineering at DHL Express and he was director of operations engineering at Amazon.com, where he oversaw the design and construction of all physical distribution infrastructure in the U.S. He was also a U.S. Navy officer for 13 years.
