Nordstrom Inc. has elevated Brad Smith to chairman of the board, effective Nov. 1.
Smith has served as a director on Nordstrom’s board since 2013, and recently revealed his transition at the end of 2018 from chairman and chief executive officer to executive chairman at Intuit Inc.
At Nordstrom, Smith succeeds Phil Satre, current chairman.
“Brad’s leadership and extensive experience in the technology industry has proven to be invaluable to Nordstrom,” said Satre. Nordstrom does about a third of its business online, operates one of the industry’s most innovative Web sites, and has invested heavily in technology and omnichannel initiatives over the past decade.
Before joining Intuit, Smith served in a variety of sales, marketing and management roles with multinational corporations including ADP, PepsiCo, Seven-Up and Advo Inc. He is also a former director of Yahoo! Inc.
Satre is president of the National Center for Responsible Gaming and vice chairman of Wynn Resorts Ltd.
