Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of John Kramer & Son in Alexandria, La., for Lloyd Woody, a veteran of the men’s wear industry and the onetime general merchandise manager of Caplan’s.
Woody, 86, died Aug. 21 in Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria after a long illness.
A native of West Virginia, Woody spent 60 years in the men’s wear business. After serving in the Army during World War II, where he was stationed in the Philippines in the South Pacific front, he began his retail career at Frankenberger’s in Charleston, W.Va. He then joined Clyde Campbell, a retailer in Fort Worth, Tex., before moving to Alexandria in 1971. He started his career there at Weiss & Goldring before joining Caplan’s in 1971. He spent 30 years at Caplan’s as a buyer, merchandiser and, ultimately, the general merchandise manager.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet F. Woody of Alexandria; two daughters, Carolyn Jacobson and her husband, Robert, of Alpharetta, Ga., and Catherine Jones and her husband, Mark, of Katy, Tex., and one grandson.
