Luxury lovers will soon have a new digital shopping venue.

Orchard Mile, considered the first multibrand luxury shopping experience across all digital platforms, is expected to launch in August, according to sources close to the business.

One source described Orchard Mile as a “T-mall” and “the Americana Manhasset in a cloud,” and noted that the site will showcase brands’ “unabbreviated assortment as the designer intended.” The Americana luxury shopping center in Manhasset, N.Y., houses many upscale designer and luxury stores.

With Orchard Mile, “brands recapture the positive economics, visual control and data intelligence of their own direct monobrand channels in a compelling multibrand environment,” the source said. The site will also have a universal shopping cart making it easier to shop and order.

The company is in talks with top luxury houses and has reportedly recruited the services of former Saks Fifth Avenue chairman and chief executive officer Stephen I. Sadove and one of Saks’ former top merchants, Joseph Boitano. Sadove heads the advisory board and is an early investor in Orchard Mile.

Orchard Mile would compete with Farfetch.com, which aggregates more than 300 fashion boutiques from around the world together on one e-commere Web site for fashion-forward consumers.
