NEW YORK — QVC, the West Chester, Pa.-based shopping network, named Mary Forte senior vice president of merchandising for the home.

Forte, who was senior vice president of The Bon Marche, Seattle, will be responsible for developing and diversifying QVC’s home category, which currently accounts for 40 percent of the network’s sales.

Forte succeeds Tim Hopkins, vice president of hard goods merchandising, in an enhanced senior position, a spokesman said. Hopkins was moved to the international division as vice president of merchandising.

With a background in international sourcing, Forte intends to bring exclusive products to QVC. Luggage, which has not been seen much on the shopping network, is one area she said she plans to develop.
