Bargain-hungry shoppers may want to take those late-night, holiday turkey sandwiches to go.
The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. and The Sports Authority said today they are opening their doors Thanksgiving evening and early Black Friday morning for consumers looking for doorbusting deals. Sears Holding Corp. said its Sears nameplate would offer Black Friday deals four days earlier, but only to “select Shop Your Way” members.
“For the first time, Sears will open all its stores to select Shop Your Way members for a private night of shopping many of its Thanksgiving/Black Friday doorbusters four days early,” the company said in a statement, adding that its “Members Private Night” will be in all stores on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The retailer said access to the event is by e-mail or text invitation only, but “members can text the word ‘exclusive’ to 73277 to receive an invitation, while supplies last.”
Joelle Maher, president and chief member officer for Sears, said “inviting [members] to shop four days before the rush of Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday and giving them access to a huge number of deals and savings — more than 1,000 doorbusters — is about as big as it gets in retail.”
The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. (which operates nameplates such as Bon-Ton, Boston Store, Bergner’s, Carson’s and Elder-Beerman, among others), said it will open its doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving “for its Biggest After-Thanksgiving Sale, offering more than 600 doorbusters, special coupons and deals.”
“The first 200 people at the door in every store will receive a gift card with values ranging from $5 up to $500 with a guaranteed $500 winner at every store,” the company said, adding that in-store deals are good through Friday, Nov. 27, until 3 p.m. while online “doorbusters” will be available on its Web site starting at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Kathryn Bufano, president and chief executive officer of Bon-Ton said, “Customers will find designer brands and extraordinary values throughout their shopping experience whether they are in our stores or shopping online.” The deals include holiday sweaters from Calvin Klein at $29.97, Rampage outerwear for $19.97 and buy one get two free on men’s sports wear, including brands from G. H. Bass, Ruff Hewn, Le Tigre and Van Heusen.
At Sports Authority, the company said its Black Friday deals will run Thursday, Nov. 26 (6 p.m. to midnight) through Saturday, Nov. 28. “Doorbusters will be available Thursday and Friday only, while supplies last,” the retailer added. “Customers can also shop Black Friday deals at sportsauthority.com starting Thanksgiving Day.”
To further entice shoppers, the retailer is giving away $15 Sports Authority Cash Cards to “the first 80 customers in line only at stores open Thanksgiving Day evening.”
The doorbusters include Klew Team crew sweaters at $35, Spiker Spy Drones for $49.99 and Aspire Sublimated Leggings for $9.99.
