PARIS — New York-based natural body care brand Sabon is making its debut in the French capital with a store opening in the hip Marais district.
The 540-square-foot shop on Rue des Rosiers is the first of 15 targeted for the next three to five years, said Sabon France chief executive officer Jordan Rosner, owner of the brand’s master-franchise for France and Luxembourg.
“We will open five or six stores in Paris, then enter the major suburban malls, before expanding to the provinces.”
The Marais site, with its stone walls, beams and archways, was considered a lucky find for Rosner, the son of the founders of the Chantal Rosner women’s wear retail chain. Normally, Sabon would create an authentic ambience in its stores from scratch, he noted.
Sabon, which opened its first store in Manhattan in 1997, now has almost
100 boutiques worldwide, a number it hopes to double in the next five years, Rosner said.
The brand, which plans to enter hair care next year, claims to count Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore and Angelina Jolie among its customers.
