PARIS — The roof of a shopping mall housing a Carrefour hypermarket in Nice, France, partially collapsed on Wednesday, injuring two people.

A section of the roof located near the north entrance of the Nice Lingostière mall came crashing down at around 5.30 p.m., real estate investment firm Klépierre and Carrefour said in a joint statement.

The site remains closed.

Klépierre, which owns the mall, in December signed a memorandum of understanding with Carrefour to sell it 127 shopping malls in France, Spain and Italy for a total of 2 billion euros, or $2.7 billion at current exchange.

“Klépierre and Carrefour express their support for the people affected by the accident,” the companies stated. Managers of the shopping mall have mandated Bureau Veritas to conduct an investigation into the causes of the accident.
