Snap Inc. has quietly opened a brick-and-mortar door for Spectacles.
The camera-enabled sunglasses, which only recently began being sold online, retail for $129.99 and are available in three colors. The sunglasses allow for users to create Snapchat snaps with the device, which has wireless capability and also charges in its case.
The new door is located at 701 Ocean Front Walk in Venice, Calif., and will keep operating hours of 11 a.m. to sunset each day, according to the site. It’s unclear if this is a pop-up shop or permanent store.
The store is expected to remain open for the next several weeks and will be similar to a New York store the company had operated, in which the Spectacles could be purchased via the company’s vending machines, called Snapbots, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The company first began selling Spectacles in the pop-up vending machines and continues with that strategy with one that appears to be slated for operation in Venice tomorrow, according to the Spectacles site.
The parent of Spectacles, Snap, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange last week, pricing its initial public offering at $17 a share. The stock popped in its market debut by about 44 percent last Wednesday. The company’s shares were off less than 1 percent in trading Thursday to $22.71 for a recent market value of $26.28 billion.
