Stein Mart's new website features a more responsive design.

Stein Mart Inc. partnered with e-commerce platform provider Kibo to update its web site to meet a growing demand for online shopping as well as to better align its site with a more unified shopping experience for its consumers.

The relaunch includes improved navigation and a more “responsive design” as well as one-page checkout. And to address the needs of a more consumer-centric environment, Kibo’s platform for Stein Mart includes customer ratings and reviews.

The new site’s rollout aligns with the retailer’s efforts to broaden its reach in the market. In June, the company said it was looking to create initiatives aimed at attracting a “younger, more modern” consumers. And that consumer is increasingly shopping online.

“As part of Stein Mart’s overall omnichannel retailing strategy, the feature-rich and responsive designed site allows Stein Mart shoppers to now have the same experience across all of its retail touch-points, giving customers a more personalized online shopping experience,” the companies said in a statement.

Dawn Robertson, chief executive officer of Stein Mart, said the new site offers the retailer a chance to scale up and evolve its omnichannel business, “while also giving our customers an easier path to purchase.”

“E-commerce is a significant sales-growth opportunity for us driving brand awareness and traffic to our stores,” the ceo noted. “Our online sales increased by 70 percent in 2015 and we expect to continue that trend with the launch of our smart, responsive web site.”

Aside from a responsive design and increased personalization, the site also features expanded visual merchandising capabilities across all of the retailer’s categories.

Sara Meza, director of e-commerce at Stein Mart, said the company’s “omnichannel road map is in line with the capabilities that Kibo offers now and will be enhancing in the future.”

Kenneth Frank, chief executive officer of Kibo, said the demands of “today’s shoppers are clear; they want retailers to make it easy and convenient to find what they are looking for when shopping online.”

Stein Mart operates 283 stores in 31 states.
