Suits For the Cause, an online men’s wear retailer, has teamed with the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic to raise funds for cancer research.

The Web site, which is an extension of Christopher’s Custom, headquartered in Albany, N.Y., will donate 20 percent of every purchase to the charity. Suits For the Cause offers Super 100s suits in both off-the-rack and custom versions, as well as blazers, pants, cotton-blend shirts and silk ties.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Since its inception in 1993, more than $80 million has been raised to support the American Cancer Society’s work.

The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic is a men’s college basketball tournament scheduled for Nov. 16 to 17 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.  Brigham Young University, Florida State University, the University of Notre Dame and Saint Joseph’s University will compete for the title with semifinals on Nov. 16 and consolation and championship games on Nov. 17. Suits For the Cause was created as a fund-raising vehicle for the event.

Suits For the Cause participated in its first national fund-raising event at this year’s NCAA Men’s Final Four, showcasing its products at the luncheon for coaches’ wives known as “Fight Cancer in Style.”

The Web site is operated by Vince Rua, a veteran retailer who had operated a chain of now-defunct men’s stores in upstate New York called Christopher’s. He now heads the Christopher’s Custom business.
