Uniqlo Manila Philippines flagship

TOKYO  Uniqlo said Monday it will open a flagship in the Philippines at some point during this coming fall and winter season. The store will be the largest in the country as well as in Southeast Asia, and it will be the company’s 15th global flagship.

The news marks the latest move in Uniqlo’s ongoing rapid expansion across Asia, and follows an announcement made last week that the apparel brand will open its first store in India this fall.

The flagship in the Philippines will be located on Ayala Avenue in Makati’s central business and commercial district. It will follow similar stores in other high-profile locations, such as New York’s Fifth Avenue, London’s Oxford Street, Paris’ Opera District, Ginza in Tokyo and Orchard Road in Singapore.

“Situated at prime locations in cities of global prominence, Uniqlo global flagships represent the best and latest of the brand, its LifeWear clothing and its famed customer service, all set in cutting-edge store design on a grand scale,” the company said. “Uniqlo has chosen Manila as the location of its newest flagship store to strengthen the foundation of its business in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia — a key global growth engine for the brand.”

With a sales floor area of over 44,000 square feet, Uniqlo Manila will feature large visual displays and state-of-the-art design concepts. It will carry the Japanese brand’s full selection of everyday clothing for men, women, children and babies.

“This exciting new retail environment and experience will put our Manila business in the global spotlight,” Satoshi Hatase, chief executive officer of Uniqlo Southeast Asia and Oceania, said in a statement. “We sense growing enthusiasm in the community here and hope to share the very best of Filipino lifestyle, culture and optimism with the world through our flagship.”
