The capital is booming. It has 3.5 million residents, 9.9 million visitors since 2011, 175 museums, 4,650 restaurants, 55 bridges and 900 bars and counting. And few if any places can compete with Berlin when it comes to the sheer diversity of its nightlife. The trendy metropolis has top sound systems and electronic music — dubstep, house and techno — which means night owls can find everything from rock and punk pubs housed in derelict ruins to funky Spree-side beach bars. Here, some new and notable additions.

Marie Antoinette
This moshing lady was born with the idea of showcasing bands whose needs for clamor exceeded that of a basement space. The Gallic crew behind this bar features nights of roaring rock ’n’ roll, punk and pop in this domed space under the Jannowitzbrücke S-bahn station.

Kim Bar
Now in its second incarnation, Mitte coolness is found in this refurbished white and metal minimalist bar with a tiny DJ booth. The room is small enough to feel cozy, as it melds live music, film, video and art parties with a diversified hipster night program.

10 Brunnen Strasse, 10119 (Mitte)
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, from 8 p.m.

Nostalgic ambience and top-notch cocktails are the main attraction in this inconspicuous bar — the entrance has only a residential doorbell. First-timers will revel in the curiosity-inducing vibe. Owner Ricardo Albrecht knows the cocktail game inside out and so does his team.

6 Christburger Strasse, 10405 (Prenzlauerberg)
Tel.: +49-157-85-92-12-21
Open Monday to Saturday from 8 p.m.

Melody Nelson Bar
Founded by a Parisian-Berliner duo, this bar exudes plenty of sophistication in what used to be a rough East German “kneipe,” or saloon, for Stasi members. The new cozy cocktail bar has an old French salon interior where classic cocktails are the real treat. A favorite among customers is the black mojito with its original recipe imported from the Plaza Athénée in Paris.
