KEEP IT LOCAL: In these tough economic times, even the Windy City’s well-heeled are opting for a weekend stay-cation. The 14th floor spa suites at the downtown Trump International Hotel & Tower, located just slipper-clad footsteps away from the hotel’s relaxing spa, boasts 600- to 900-square-foot rooms with their own yoga kits, healthy minibar snacks (including dried fruit and lemongrass green tea) and a warming caddy to heat herbal-scented neck and eye pillows. Soft music and a custom spa scent fill the hallways, adding to the Zen-like atmosphere. So far, hotel employees say the suites, which opened last fall, have been a hit with business travelers seeking a respite, nearby residents looking for a getaway and those planning a special girls’ get-together. Signature spa services include gemstone massages (complete with diamond or sapphire-infused oils) and the Ultimate Kate, a Kate Somerville facial — a favorite of Ivanka Trump, vice president of real estate development for the Trump Organization and daughter of the Donald, who is a regular at the hotel.
