Sarah Jessica Parker is taking on her haters, one Instagram post at a time.
Parker may have gotten plenty of blogosophere flack for her “Hamilton” inspired Met Gala ensemble, made for her by Monse, but the actress was particularly irritated with an Instagram posted by user @ivymarshallsblog, who said Parker “didn’t get the memo” regarding the evening’s theme.
Parker was impressively quick to refute the claim — in fact, she was the second user to comment on the photo. “Got the memo,” she wrote. “Always welcome thoughts but I’m a stickler for the theme and pay close attention to what it means. Every year with great consideration, research and conviction. The understanding of man and machine, how they intersect, when and why is what we considered. Perhaps you weren’t aware of the technology used in the details and embellishments of the design. Or perhaps you simply didn’t like what I wore which is completely fine but you can’t accuse me of not paying close attention and adhering to the theme. With respect and warmest regards, sj.”
While widely panned as a miss, Parker’s look was one of the most talked-about from Monday’s ball. She even penned a piece for The New York Times’ T Magazine defending and explaining her choice.
In the fallout, Ms. Marshall appeared to do some scrambling, posting another triple split photo of Parker, this time showing various Met looks through the years. “2016 might not have been her best look and yes I still think she was out of place!!!” she captioned the photo, before offering links to her blog. Nothing like a social media squabble with a celebrity to boost your follower count.
