Some people drive to the Hamptons. Others take a lengthy Jitney ride. The truly, spectacularly indulgent prefer a more sensible mode of transportation for the tiring journey out East: the helicopter (at $575 a seat or more than $3,000 for a full load). East Hampton recorded nearly 10,000 takeoffs and landings at the local airport last year, according to Bloomberg. So imagine the gasps heard all over Park Avenue when a town noise ordinance passed in April limiting chopper rides to one a week. How could anyone manage? Thankfully, cooler heads have prevailed, for now anyway. On Monday, a federal judge said the helicopter rides could continue uninterrupted for the next three weeks until she makes a decision on the law. In other words, enjoy it while it lasts…
