DEATH AND THE MAIDENS: Socialites, art folk and the fashion pack celebrated the launch Friday night of the ‘She Died of Beauty’ collection of eco-friendly T-shirts by Erin O’Connor and her stylist pal Kate Halfpenny. Guests included Livia Firth, Caroline Flack, Hannah Marshall, Laura Jackson, Detmar Blow, Zara Martin, Grace Woodward, Gizzi Erskine, Myleene Klass and Emilia Fox.
“The inspiration behind the brand name and collection was to make a teasing yet affectionate tickle at the fashion industry we love, honor and serve,” said O’Connor. “We really liked the idea of creating something that anyone and everyone can wear with confidence and style. We always get so excited about working on the brand that sometimes we just can’t calm down.” The two are working with SWEA, a women’s charitable organization based in India.
“Empowerment of women is something the brand very much stands for and this organization seeks to support women who earn a living through their own labor or small businesses,” O’Connor said. “As such, each of our products is lovingly created with a sense of purpose using ethically and organically sourced materials – after all there’s no reason why style and conscience can’t co-exist!”
