“I don’t think I can sleep through the SAG Awards tomorrow,” Matt McGorry said flashing a boyish grin said at Chateau Marmont on Saturday night. He was in the midst of enjoying a night out at Entertainment Weekly’s pre-show, mingling with both his “Orange Is The New Black” co-stars — Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning — and his “How To get Away With Murder” cohorts Karla Souza and Falahee.
“People don’t get to my house to get me ready until 1:30, so I have a little bit of a late day,” he added — though that’s not to say getting ready isn’t a to-do. “I’m not going to lie. The fittings, the tailoring… I’m still a little stressed out by the process, but once I’m there I’ll feel good about it. And I know the women have it a lot harder in terms of hair and make-up.”
His fellow nominee Eric Stonestreet was on a similar schedule: “I don’t have to wake up until 1:30, so I’ll stay out as late as Entertainment Weekly entertains me,” he said, holding court under a canopy with Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Sarah Hyland.
“Wait until you see what I’m bringing out tomorrow,” teased Terry Crews, whose Andy Samberg fronted series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is nominated. “This is the warm-up. This is the precursor. It’s a prequel. And you think this is nice, I actually got off the treadmill in this and ran over here. Tomorrow get ready. Because I said, ‘This old thing? Let me just throw this on.’ I’m going to shock some people tomorrow…. I love men’s wear. I literally have a whole storage unit for clothing.”
Lyonne admitted she wasn’t sure where the night would take her, but she, too, was already thinking about her big day ahead. “It would be a ballsy move to wear this again tomorrow,” she said of her Phillip Lim cocktail dress before playing coy about her SAG gown. “I will say that a great designer made it for me, and I am excited about that because I’m a big fan of theirs.” Though, she would reveal she chose the look because it makes her feel like “a New Yorker goes to Hollywood. Not like crazy person drinks the Kool-Aid and loses their mind. It felt like as grounded a gown as one can come up with.”
Elsewhere, Greer Grammer, with big sis Spencer, was still reeling from her turn as Miss Golden Globe. “Oprah [told] me I was beautiful backstage. Matthew McConaughey kissed me on the cheek,” she giggled. “It was unreal.”
