On Saturday night, Sold & Striped held a dinner in honor of the brand’s collaboration with Hilary Rhoda and Sean Avery at Montauk hotspot The Surf Lodge. Well, more precisely, on the beach just below the hotel — a safe berth from the venue’s typical weekend evening antics.

Andy Cohen, Leandra Medine and Kelly Bensimon meandered through early on in the evening. Though Rhoda is the fashion model, the brand initially approached Avery for the capsule collection. “We were trying to make something we would want to live in. [The mood board] was a lot of landscape pictures, like a picture of a Bronco on a pretty street in Southampton,” said Avery, who has both professional hockey player and Vogue intern on his résumé. “He’s very specific in his tastes and likes and dislikes and I really like working with people who have opinions,” said Solid & Striped founder Isaac Ross. In the end they settled on a his-and-hers collection — which proved to be a good challenge for the soon-to-be-married couple. “It was a great test,” said Rhoda. “But it’s inspiring to see what your significant other is into and how well our tastes mesh. We got lucky in that way, because otherwise if we had completely different ideas it may have been a mess.”
