VIPS ONLY: Chiara Mastroianni, Mia Goth and Mackenzie Davis were among guests at the Louis Vuitton after party at Castel on Wednesday night.
Earlier in the evening, Mastroianni, Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Nicolas Ghesquière had attended an intimate dinner upstairs at the restaurant of the iconic private Parisian club located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood.
Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, joined for dessert.
The club is open to members only, and its membership is based on sponsorship by one of its founding partners.
“I am member 538, ” said Mastroianni. “Does that mean there are 537 people before me?” she asked André Saraiva, who is behind the club’s artistic direction and among its founding partners.
South Korean actress Doona Bae said she stars in an upcoming Netflix series called “Sense8,” directed by “The Matrix” creators Lana and Andy Wachowski.
“The story is about eight people in eight cities, and they are all connected to each other somehow. I live in Seoul, Korea. Other people live in Berlin, London, San Francisco, Chicago, Mumbai, Mexico City and Nairobi. We travel everywhere. Before Paris, I was in Nairobi and right after this, I am going to Berlin to continue shooting.”
“I’m going to Big Sur tomorrow for an independent movie,” said Davis, wearing a dress from the Louis Vuitton fall 2014 collection. “After that to Budapest for ‘The Martian,’ by Ridley Scott.” Her co-stars include Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara and Matt Damon.
Everyone blew off steam on the last day of Paris Fashion Week dancing to music by the likes of Barry White and to the soundtrack of “The Artist.” There was also a set by Swedish deejay Robyn and another by 2 Many DJs.
The party had a retro vibe – reminiscent both of Vuitton’s fall 2014 collection and the Castel of yesteryear – notably in the Sixties, when Serge Gainsbourg, Pierre Bergé and Juliette Gréco lit up Paris.
“If I could be reborn again, I would like to be 20 in the Sixties in Paris. I think it be would a lot of fun,” said Goth, who will star in “Everest” opposite Robin Wright and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Goth didn’t have to climb the mountain for the part. “It was shot in a studio outside of London,” she said. “I am a traditional American type of gal in the film. It was interesting coming from ‘Nymphomaniac,’ where it was harder, edgier and rawer.”
Goth is not a member of any nightclub – “just a member of my yoga club,” she explained. “I do Bikram.”
Mathias Augustyniak, one half of the graphic design duo M/M, said he is working on the catalog of the upcoming Björk exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Other guests at the party included Pierre Hardy, Elie Top and Deena Abdulaziz.
