“Sunshine, travel, happiness, good times,” said Orlebar Brown founder Adam Brown at the cocktail event he was hosting alongside Mr Porter editor Dan Rookwood. “[That’s what] our lifestyle is around. And so what better place to do this than in Montauk?”
Brown was holding court at The Crow’s Nest, a local haunt overlooking Lake Montauk, for the annual Mr Porter summer sendoff party — one last hurrah before people skip town pre-fashion week (it’s coming up, folks). Natalie Joos, Peter Davis, and models in Orlebar Brown board shorts roamed the outdoor space. Brown was also pitching his company’s contest, which has people design their own swim trunks by uploading a photograph to the brand’s Web site — one winner is picked each month. “This one I did in the cab on the way here,” said Rookwood, holding out his phone. Was it good enough to take the top prize? “We’ll have to see, won’t we?” quipped Brown. The event also celebrated Mr Porter and Net-a-porter’s same day shipping to the Hamptons. “If you’ve come out to Montauk and dare I say, forgotten your pair of Orlebars, we can get it out to you,” said Rookwood. What a relief.
