A few hours after the vernissage of the Frieze art fair opened Wednesday night at Randall’s Island, Naomi Campbell sashayed into Lafayette in NoHo as the cohost of a dinner in honor of the artist Ed Atkins. It was one of the dozens of events planned around the art fair, and this one, also hosted by Burberry, the New Museum and W magazine, drew from both the worlds of art and fashion.
Besides Campbell, Bethann Hardison, designer Misha Nonoo, and models Catherine McNeil and Amanda Murphy were in attendance as were the artists Anh Duong, Tom Sachs and Nate Lowman and Burberry brand stalwarts, like Joel McHale and Rupert Friend. The filmmaker Lee Daniels, the force behind the hit show “Empire,” was on hand for Campbell, who plays a conniving prima donna on the show.
Before the dinner, Atkins, who has work at the museum’s Triennial, performed two pieces for the crowd.
