Olivia Palermo can add one more notch to her collaboration belt. Following partnerships with BaubleBar and Ciate, the socialite launched a collection with Nordstrom on Monday as the guest designer for the store’s in-house line Chelsea28. At a dinner celebrating the collaboration at Indochine on Thursday, “The City” alum modeled a dress of her own design, pairing the maroon number with a fuzzy Haute Hippie vest and Christian Louboutin boots.
“Layering, layering, layering,” said Palermo, noting the single-digit wind chills outside. “A vest and a jacket and a chunky sweater are always a very chic and easy way to go.”
Nordstrom is banking on the fact that millions of people look to Palermo for advice such as this. Her own Instagram reach is at 3.1 million and the number of blogs dedicated to chronicling her outfits is surprising.
“Tailored, sporty-chic, with a little color to it,” said Palermo of the Nordstrom line. “The first collection is more about ‘lifer’ pieces,” meaning pieces that you keep for, you guessed it, life.
Caroline Issa, Indre Rockefeller and Rachel Zoe turned out to support Palermo and nosh on steamed Vietnamese ravioli, mini crab cakes and crispy shrimp. As for what’s next for the brunette beauty, Palermo admitted it might be time to strike out on her own.
“I think in time I will do my own thing,” she said. “Maybe not clothing, maybe accessories, we’ll see. You never know….With the collaborations, it’s all been a learning experience.”
