The night before the Guggenheim International Gala, Christian Dior, its sponsor, throws a party in the museum’s atrium for the youngsters who won’t be making it to the signature, grown-up affair later on.

That meant that on Wednesday night dozens of members of the Guggenheim’s Young Collectors Council got to rub shoulders with the likes of Marion Cotillard, Camilla Belle, ASAP Rocky, Karlie Kloss, John Cameron Mitchell and the diminutive “Transformers” star Nicola Peltz.

They took in a performance by The xx while a spectacular white balloon hanging from the ceiling projected images by the late German artist Otto Piene. Dior chief executive Sidney Toledano, who was recently elected to the museum’s board of trustees, played the role of chaperone.
