The flock of male models, bloggers and groupies making their way through the inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men’s, gathered atop the Dream Hotel in Chelsea on Tuesday to toast Todd Snyder, who showed his collection earlier in the day. It was one of several after parties unfolding throughout New York for the first men’s week.
Snyder himself was, as one can expect, beside himself. “It’s really about time,” he said of NYFWM, echoing many of his peers. “I’m kind of more of a veteran in this industry, so for me it never made sense when I got in here four or five years ago to do my own show that we showed after market. So it’s about time that we started showing during market. It’s amazing,” he said.
Now that his own show is finished, he’ll spend the rest of the week cheering on friends like Tim Coppens and Ovadia & Sons.
“It’s a real community. We look out for everyone else and want each other to succeed.”
