He may travel 200 days out of the year, but peripatetic leather goods scion Santiago Barberi Gonzalez is now planning to find an extra month on his calendar to spend time in his new favorite city. “All of a sudden all anybody is talking about is Los Angeles, so I wanted to come and see what it was really all about ,” he said. So college pal China Chow, along with Lisa Eisner, Brad Goreski and Cameron Silver hosted a dinner for Gonzalez, an art afficionado who goes by Santi, at Mr. Chow Tuesday. The eclectic affair was attended by Jeffrey Deitch, Michael Govan, Sharon Stone, Stephen Dorff, James Caan, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Doug Aitken, Amanda and Wendy Goldberg, Patric Reeves, Alexandra Grant, Honor Fraser and Todd Eberle. But even the most jaded aesthetes put down their glasses and stopped talking for Mr. Chow’s famous noodle making presentation. “That was the first course,” said Chow, who then settled into her seat for the night; the tight crowd didn’t get up from their tables until the dessert Sharon Stone rose to cross the room and introduce herself to Deitch. “I’ve been in your gallery before,” she told him as she popped a lychee into her mouth. “Welcome to Los Angeles.”
